Liminal Bodies
2024
Liminal bodies is a photographic series (UV prints on aluminium ) consisting of several chapters shot in the north of France.
Using contemporary photography tools, bodies are photographed in three dimensions, “skinned” and staged in the natural landscapes of the northern coastline. Contemporary representations of the body in nature, these images evoke the paradox between the omnipresence of image capture tools on the one hand, and the invisibilisation of beings on the other.
By planning to set up a low-cost volumetric capture device (research in progress in collaboration with the Ecole des Mines, among others), this work seeks to take an ontological approach to performance, placing the body and its movements as the trigger for the three-dimensional shot. A way of rehabilitating the power of the body and dance, by engaging in a poetic dialogue with landscapes.
